An Introduction to the Moorcock Inn

Moorcock Inn Hotel and Restaurant, View of Pendle The stunning gardens surrounding the majestic building compliment the panoramic views of the Ribble Valley. Standing on the Fell above the village of Waddington, the Moorcock Inn has become renowned for its traditional, locally-sourced produce, supplied whenever possible by the family farm in Newton-by-Bowland.

To many people near and far, the Moorcock evokes memories of nostalgic celebrations transcending generations of christenings, weddings and family gatherings. "We are now marrying daughters and grand-daughters of Moorock brides of yesterday" quotes Shirley, our Wedding Coordinator.

Moorcock Inn Hotel and Restaurant, Best food in LancashireThe Inn is usually bustling with residents, local diners and customers calling in for refreshments whilst walking, cycling and even fishing at nearby Stocks reservoir. To tantalise the taste buds, there are fabulous menus available: standard menus that are changed frequently together with seasonal menus and the chef's daily specials. Paul, the Hotel Manager says "Our 1lb steak puddings are famous and we truly believe out homemade cheese and onion pie to be the best in the valley." This wonderful food can be enjoyed alongside our hand-pulled ales, sourced from local breweries, or wines from our extensive cellar, supplied by the award-winning Byrnes of Clitheroe.

The cosy oak-panelled bar is eclectically furnished with relaxing leather sofas and more formal dining all warmed in those winter months by a blazing, open fire. In addition, there are two dining rooms and a splendid domed ballroom that can accommodate up to 200 guests, with its very own large, private bar.

Outside, the gardens have been extensively landscaped and now incorporate a large patio area, lawned garden and children's play area. With beautiful hanging baskets and well-stocked flower beds, the glorious gardens all enhance the surrounding beauty and spectacular views of Pendle Hill.

"We like to feel that there is something for everybody on offer here", say Paul, "and we strive to serve traditional food with a touch of nostalgia. That is what the Moorcock is all about."
